Once you’ve settled on Charleston, SC for your wedding destination, it’s time to start thinking about getting the word out to guests. And we’re not talking about just the date – you’ll want to get to work on some personalized wedding artwork to show guests exactly why they need to plan their trip to Charleston!
We’re guessing there are a few (very good) reasons you chose the Holy City for your Big Day. Charleston is full of sites just begging to be featured on illustrated wedding invitations. Just to name a few:
1. Rainbow Row
Rainbow Row is a row of 13 pastel homes unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else. They were originally constructed circa 1740 when East Bay Street was directly on the waterfront. Since then, the area has been infilled quite a bit. Nowadays, you’ll see many families, engaged couples, brides & grooms and tourists all vying for a photo at this beautiful spot. The beautiful pastels of Rainbow Row have become somewhat synonymous with Charleston and are a great jumping off point for personalized wedding artwork. It’s featured in many of our custom wedding invitation designs!
2. The Pineapple Fountain
Situated at Waterfront Park, the pineapple fountain is another Charleston icon. Pineapples are a symbol of hospitality and welcome, so the city chose it for the fountain design when Waterfront Park was being constructed in the 1980s. It is a popular spot for engagements and wedding photos for good reason!
The pineapple also makes a wonderful motif for wedding stationery given its meaning. We have featured pineapples and the fountain on many illustrated wedding invitations!
3. The Ravenel Bridge
True Charleston locals remember the “old” and “new” bridge which were actually both decades old at the time of their demolition. They were replaced with the beautiful new Arthur J Ravenel Bridge around 2005, opening up Mt Pleasant, SC to massive growth (and more lovely wedding venues!). It’s a beautiful vista to look out across the water and see the bridge over shining seas.
The bridge makes a great symbol to use on weddings in Charleston and Mt Pleasant. For many couples it makes perfect sense to use it as personalized wedding artwork.
4. Miles of shoreline
Within a half hour of downtown you’ll find Folly Beach, Sullivans, Isle of Palms and even more beaches just a little bit further away. Kiawah Island is an especially popular Charleston wedding destination. The palm trees, gorgeous water, and miles of sand are perfect wedding spots and offer a wealth of options for illustrated wedding invitations.
5. Grand Oaks
There’s nothing quite like the Spanish moss draped oak trees in Charleston. Even on the barrier islands like Kiawah, you get to enjoy BOTH the oaks and the palm trees. What more could you ask for? Trees are the perfect symbol to incorporate into wedding invitations for their symbolism of permanence, growth, and more.
So, why do you need custom venue artwork for your Charleston wedding? We hope we’ve made it clear! There are just too many beautiful places, both natural and manmade, in the holy city not to feature on illustrated wedding invitations.
