For so many of us, our pets are our first babies. Many engaged couples adopt a pet together as they start working on building a life together, so why shouldn’t these lovable furry family members be part of the wedding day? We think they definitely should, and there are many ways to incorporate them. From dog wedding napkins to custom cups and more, we’ve got all the ideas to involve all the family members in the wedding.
-
Dog Wedding Napkins (or cats…or…horses?!)
This one is a no brainer of course. Custom cocktail napkins are a staple of most wedding décor plans, and since they are a small detail, they are the perfect spot to bring in pets. As with most wedding stationery, options abound – from linenlike colored napkins with foil imprints to full watercolor illustrations – you’re sure to be able to make it coordinate with the wedding decorations.

Wedding Crest
A custom wedding crest is the perfect way to create cohesiveness across your custom wedding stationery suite. You can really solidify your palette and themes in that one singular element and then use it in various formats. How about sneaking in your dog, cat, bunny, fish, or whatever kind of pet has your heart? Wedding crests are meant to be highly personal, so it’s the perfect place to do it!

Wedding Maps
While you may not want to have your precious goldendoodle front and center on your formal wedding invitation, finding a place to sneak them into the invitation isn’t that hard to do. A custom wedding map is one of our favorite spots. If your pet isn’t attending the wedding, for example, you could mark your residence and/or hometown with their image and write something along the lines of “Rover says hello!” or “Honey says come home soon!”

Envelope Liners
Similar to the map, the envelope liner is a great place to get a little more creative. Slipping in your pet into some scenery there is unexpected, clever, and sure to get a smile!

Matchboxes
Currently, matchboxes are all the rage for wedding favors. Like dog wedding napkins, they are an excellent place to get a little more whimsical or fun even if the rest of the wedding is traditional and elegant. We’ve even designed some fun ones with puppies holding cocktail glasses and champagne flutes!

Personalized Thank You Notes
If including your animals in the proper wedding stationery isn’t for you, there’s no reason you can’t incorporate them in your after-wedding stationery. After all, your pet is part of the family! Consider doing a cute illustration front and center on a folded note card, or go more subtle and have them make their appearance small on the back or the card or above the return address.
-
Koozies
You can never have enough koozies, and collecting them from friends’ weddings is a favorite pastime for many of us! Usually art on a koozie is best in a one color design, so consider doing a sketch of your dog on one side and maybe something else on the other, like your new married name or monogram.
-
Custom Frosted Cups
So-called “Masters cups” are another great favor option, but they can also be used at the actual wedding when the bar switches from glassware. One color printing is also best here so a sketch of your animal(s) will be the perfect fun surprise for your guests at the end of the night.

Coasters
For all the same reasons above, coasters are another great and subtle place to bring in some whimsy. We loved making these fun Lady and the Tramp inspired ones!

Here at Dodeline, we’ve been making custom wedding stationery and dog wedding napkins for over 15 years. The funny thing is that in the first 10-ish years of our business, we never drew a single dog or animal to go in wedding stationery! Nowadays, oohing and ahhing over people’s pets is one of our main activities. We love seeing your sweet four-legged friends and getting the chance to draw them. Owner and founder Sarah Reed does in fact draw each one!

If you’re interested in having a custom illustration done of your pet to include in your wedding, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us! We also have a whole line of pet inspired greeting cards, ornaments and more that you can check out on our shopping site at www.shopdodeline.com.
Happy wedding planning!
