Years ago, wedding invitations pretty much looked the same. Even a custom wedding card was likely black ink on either white or ecru paper, probably engraved, and included multiple envelopes and tissue paper. While traditional style still very much has a place, many couples in 2026 are looking for more personalized wedding ideas. Luckily, that’s kind of our specialty here at Dodeline!
With over 15 years of industry experience, we are your custom wedding card experts. Here are 3 ways to personalize your wedding stationery with meaningful details…
Tell your story
How did you get together? Have you been together forever? Meet in a bar? Travel the world? Even if your story isn’t full of flashy details, it can be really fun for guests to get a glimpse into a couple’s beginnings via the wedding suite.
One way to do that can be to simply share a few key dates or highlights, like the example below.

Where you met, where you got engaged, and where you’re getting married is a really fun way to share a quick timeline with your guests.
Another way to share that information is in a map format, like the watercolor wedding save the date card below:

Celebrate place
The odds are good that you spent a great deal of time thinking about where to have your wedding. Is it your hometown, somewhere dear to your heart like your college town, or maybe a place completely new to everyone? A great way to personalize a custom wedding card is to really lean into the place for your big day.
Of course, here at Dodeline we’re lucky to be in the charming, historic city of Charleston, SC, surrounded by both natural and architectural beauty. So celebrating the wedding destination is kind of our specialty! Below is a great example of one of our recent wedding invitation suites, leaning into the sunset marsh and oak trees surrounding the couple’s wedding venue, Wingate Place.

However, there are many incredible places to wed outside of Charleston too! For this suite, we drew inspiration from an Italian summer, drawing the beautiful Italian courtyard near the wedding venue and also creating a fully custom wedding crest. Chock full of personalized wedding ideas!

Embrace a niche
Do you and your partner share a unique interest? Are you big into gaming or backpacking or travel or books? Another excellent way to create a truly custom wedding card is to shirk all the trends and lean all the way in to whatever interests you most.
The couple below loved music and vintage records, so we added some motifs to support their interest and even used some fun wording. When guests receive this custom wedding card, they will know exactly who it’s for and say, “this is so THEM!”

Unique Ideas We’ve Done in the Past
Over the years, we’ve had some really fun requests come along. So if you want to make your invitations truly personalized and custom, let your imagination run wild a bit and have some fun like these past clients did!

If you’re looking to create a truly custom wedding card, we might be biased, but we think you’ll benefit from having a designer and stationer on your wedding vendor team. The best results come from collaboration between a couple and a professional who knows the ropes!
We have a big sense of humor and always love when couples come to us with clever ideas to personalize their wedding stationery beyond the norm. Of course, we do many traditional style wedding invitations and those are near and dear to our hearts too – elegance and tradition never go out of style! But if you want to go off the beaten path a bit with your custom wedding card, we’re all for coming along on that design journey too.
