We get it.
Figuring out what a wedding invitation costs is difficult, to say the least.

At Dodeline, we’ve been creating custom wedding stationery since 2009.
We specialize in creating something beautiful for clients in a wide range of budgets – for those who want to go all out, we’ve got all the tools and know-how to do so, and for those who need to stick a little closer to a specific budget, we’ll have ideas for that too.
Some quick tips to keep in mind as you dive in:
- You do not need an invitation for each guest. You need it for each HOUSEHOLD.
- When you are budgeting for stationery, remember that it includes save the dates, invitations and day-of paper (seating cards, programs, menus, napkins, etc.).
- The biggest cost drivers are how many you need, the method of printing, and how much custom design is involved.
- Postage is not included and typically purchased by the client, so remember to factor that in as well.

…because the first question is always “Can you give me a ballpark?”
We’ve implemented the tool here to help you get a very general range of what invitations cost and how printing types and embellishments change those costs. Play with it as much as you’d like, and reach out to us for a friendly chat or a personalized quote anytime!
FAQs
How much do custom wedding invitations actually cost?
Wedding invitation pricing can vary quite a bit depending on the quantity, printing method, paper selection, and level of customization. A simple, digitally printed invitation suite will generally be more affordable than a letterpress or foil-printed suite with multiple inserts and embellishments. Our pricing tool is designed to help you explore these options and get a general idea of what works for your budget. For a more accurate number, we’re always happy to prepare a personalized quote!
How many wedding invitations do I actually need?
Here’s some good news for your budget: you don’t need one invitation per guest! Generally, you’ll need one invitation per household or couple, plus individual invitations for single guests. For example, a wedding with 150 guests might only require 75–90 invitations. We also recommend ordering a few extras for keepsakes, last-minute additions, and your photographer.
What is the most affordable way to create a beautiful wedding invitation?
There are plenty of ways to create beautiful wedding stationery without breaking the bank! Digital printing is generally the most budget-friendly printing method, and choosing a streamlined invitation suite can make a big difference. We can also help you prioritize the details that matter most to you, whether that’s beautiful paper, a custom illustration, or a special finishing touch.
Does the pricing include custom design?
The level of design involved can have a significant impact on your final stationery cost. Custom illustrations, watercolor maps, wedding crests, and completely bespoke designs require additional creative work compared with adapting an existing design. Our pricing tool provides a starting point, but a personalized quote will give you a clearer picture of the design and printing costs for your specific project.
Can I mix printing methods to stay within budget?
Yes! Mixing printing methods can be a great way to achieve a high-end look while managing costs. For example, you might choose letterpress for your main invitation and digital printing for your details and RSVP cards. We can help you explore combinations that give you the most impact for your investment.
Do I have to know exactly what I want before requesting a quote?
Not at all! Many of our clients come to us with a few inspiration photos, a general color palette, or simply a feeling they want their invitations to convey. We can help you understand your options, explore printing methods, and figure out which details make sense for your budget. That’s part of the fun!
